The “Omeini”
characters were created by Luigi Viscido in 2007. This name is the result of
the old word "oméi"
which means “lament” or “sigh” and the Italian word “omini”
which stands for “little men”.
These characters have a strange shape, their face is semi-hidden and their
head is hollow as they are shy, maybe cowardly. They have long limbs and a
short body: this seems to show that they are weak, maladjusted and lonely.
They think about life but they can also be evil. They are idle.
The Omeini characters live in an “empty” reality also if they may also
experience violent situations like “rings” or “trenches” or sad conditions
like begging (yet there aren’t clashes). They live in small planets and holes,
in total loneliness, in a world where communication doesn’t exist or is
reduced to a minimum. They always communicate through notices: we don’t know
if they are able to speak, if they think or see objects. They do not even give
shadow. They can only point their forefinger.
After all they are poor creatures which have been abandoned by a Creator, they
live in a condition which is similar to the human one, also if their world
isn’t regulated by physical laws. They are the result of a mix of old and new
features: they remember an old world and, at the same time, they live in the
present with irony and daydream.
